DARKON proudly manufactured a comprehensive suite of architectural lighting fixtures for the Brisbane Grammar School ‘STEAM Precinct’, a cutting-edge educational facility that supports multidisciplinary learning and collaboration. The building includes flexible classrooms and a unique four-storey-high “incubator” space with suspended study pods, cultivating an environment that encourages self-directed learning. The distinctive lighting rings are a key design element, complementing the space and contributing to its creative atmosphere.
The STEAM Precinct is designed for student-directed learning, offering classrooms and co-laboratories that promote cross-disciplinary interaction and peer support. The building encourages students to engage with their education in innovative ways, providing a collaborative environment for exploration and teamwork. A notable feature introduced by the design team is the various MRS T. RADII RING SM configurations, which contribute to the clean, modern aesthetic and enhance the educational experience for Brisbane Grammar School students.
From providing task lighting for technical laboratories in accordance with relevant Australian standards to creating a functional and inviting atmosphere for common study areas, all products were carefully crafted to support the flexible, dynamic design. Project coordination was expertly managed by Light and Design Group, DARKON’s distribution partners for QLD & NT. With a focus on quality, precision, and sustainability, the supplied luminaires—including many recessed, surface-mounted, and suspended profiles in both straight and curved formats—play a key role in shaping distinctive and positive educational experiences at Brisbane Grammar School.
