Darkon is a 100% Australian-owned, manufacturer of handcrafted, bespoke lighting solutions. Established in 2007, our expertise is reflected in the largest range of proprietary extruded aluminium profiles in Australia, as well as an extensive range of locally produced architectural downlights, and our original ‘classic/contemporary’ decorative lighting catalogue.
Our Purpose-Built Manufacturing Facility
In 2021, Darkon unveiled its state of the art ‘Advanced Manufacturing 4.0’ facility in Melbourne. Boasting in-house research and design capabilities, supported by metal & acrylic industrial laser cutting machines, fully CNC machined extrusion lines, a specialised laser-welding metal shop, down-light production workshop, and in-house powder-coating capabilities, our Broadmeadows plant is the heart of the company’s innovative, solutions-based supply.
What We Do
DARKON’s foundation lies in its commitment to the company’s Research and Development activities which facilitate the provision of customised solutions for a diverse range of project requirements requiring short lead times. The product design process is driven by a ‘universal design’ philosophy which accommodates the ability to interchange mounting applications across product families and facilitate backwards integration of generational upgrades in electrical technology.
Darkon’s goniophotometer accommodates the industry’s demand for current ‘absolute photometry’ .ies data files. Quality BIM & REVIT family content generation is also evidence of our commitment to the Architecture & Design community.
Dean Phillips | Where it all Started...
It all started with Dean Phillips, an industrial designer who honed his craft at Swinburne University in Melbourne. With a passion for creating lighting solutions that marry form and function, Dean’s vision laid the foundation for what would become Australia’s leading architectural lighting manufacturer.
