Aware Super’s workplace at 555 Collins Street unifies its three Melbourne offices into a 7,800sqm, six-floor tenancy at the heart of Charter Hall’s landmark $800M premium-grade tower in Melbourne’s CBD. Designed by FutureSpace and delivered by Buildcorp with Generate Property Group as project managers, the fitout embraces collaboration, technology and sustainability, providing staff with a flexible and high-performing workspace.
DARKON was engaged to supply architectural lighting that complements the project’s emphasis on clean spatial flow and integrated workplace experience. A selection of luminaires was specified and installed by SKS Technologies to support the different work modes and spatial typologies across the floors.
The TRIM RADII REC system was integrated into ceiling planes for general illumination, contributing to the minimalist aesthetic and delivering clean linear lines throughout shared workspaces. The MRS.T RADII RING SUS fittings provided a distinctive suspended lighting feature within key communal areas, reinforcing zones of collaboration and interaction with a visually engaging circular form. In areas where increased lighting depth was required, DEEP C 210 downlights were used to achieve high-output functional lighting with excellent visual comfort.
Architect FutureSpace envisioned a people-centric design, integrating private and open-plan workspaces with wellness zones, training areas, and executive suites. Technology plays a major role throughout the tenancy, including digital artwork and interactive touchpoints that enhance user experience. These elements were supported by Aston Consulting, who helped the project achieve a 6 Star Green Star Interiors rating and a 5.5 Star NABERS energy rating.
Sustainability targets were embedded from the outset by asset owner Charter Hall, and the project is now a flagship example of carbon neutral design and operations. The workplace continues to be serviced by MPA to maintain optimal functionality.
DARKON is proud to have contributed to the lighting strategy for Aware Super’s forward-thinking new office environment, delivered successfully by a highly collaborative project team.
