DARKON is a 100% Australian-owned manufacturer of handcrafted, bespoke lighting solutions. Established in 2007, we have built our reputation on delivering the highest quality architectural lighting products designed and manufactured right here in Melbourne.
We offer the largest range of proprietary extruded aluminium profiles in Australia, along with locally produced architectural downlights. Our commitment to local manufacturing means shorter lead times, greater customisation, and direct quality control over every product that leaves our facility.
From concept to completion, DARKON works with architects, lighting designers, and specifiers to bring their vision to life through the art of light.
Our Purpose-Built Manufacturing Facility
In 2021, DARKON unveiled its purpose-built manufacturing facility featuring Advanced Manufacturing 4.0 capabilities in Melbourne. This state-of-the-art facility enables us to maintain complete control over every aspect of the production process.
Our facility houses metal and acrylic laser cutting machines, CNC machined extrusion lines, a laser-welding metal shop, a dedicated downlight production workshop, and in-house powder-coating capabilities.
This vertically integrated approach ensures consistent quality, rapid prototyping, and the flexibility to deliver customised solutions with industry-leading turnaround times.
What We Do
At DARKON, our commitment to research and development enables us to provide customised solutions with short lead times. Our design philosophy accommodates a wide range of mounting applications and allows for future technological upgrades.
We invest in advanced testing equipment, including a goniophotometer for precise photometry data, ensuring every product meets the highest performance standards. We also generate comprehensive BIM and REVIT content for seamless integration into architectural projects.

Industrial designer Dean Phillips, a graduate of Swinburne University, founded DARKON with a clear philosophy: that the best lighting solutions emerge from the perfect balance of form and function.
With a deep passion for quality lighting and its impact on the built environment, Dean has led DARKON from a small workshop to one of Australia's leading architectural lighting manufacturers — all while maintaining an unwavering commitment to environmental responsibility and local manufacturing.
His vision continues to drive DARKON's innovation, ensuring that every product reflects the craftsmanship and design excellence that have become synonymous with the DARKON name.

DARKON partners with world-class manufacturers to bring the best of global lighting technology to Australia. We hold exclusive Australian distribution rights for HEPER exterior and façade luminaires, and partner with Tridonic, the Austrian leader in LED technology and turnkey lighting solutions.
