The first educational facility constructed in Victoria with net zero energy efficiency was the Plumbing Industry Climate Action Centre (PICAC).
The training facility, designed for the plumbing industry, will generate all energy required to support the operation of the building on site through the incorporation of several renewable energy technologies.
The new facility designed by FMSA incorporates a passive design strategy, which includes a focus on natural light and ventilation, and a highly insulated building fabric.
Heading up the fitout team, Hutchinson Builders realised the Norman Disney & Young electrical design, with lighting locally manufactured in Collingwood by Darkon and installed by M Squared Electrical.
Some products featured in the design included DEEP DOWN recessed downlights, TUBE SUS linear extrusion, MRS.T + ARMY custom configuration to the lecture theatre ceiling, AMBIENT RING decorative pendants and SLIM C SM in common areas.
