DARKON delivered the lighting package for the Fatih Mosque Complex, Australia’s earliest purpose-built Islamic centre, established in 1976 and continuing to serve as a significant place of worship, learning and community connection within Melbourne’s multicultural landscape.
The lighting strategy was conceived as an extension of the architectural language, emphasising clarity, spatial rhythm and visual calm. Linear illumination is integrated within the ceiling geometry to reinforce structure and movement throughout the prayer and circulation spaces, creating balanced, even light that supports both daily prayer and larger communal gatherings without visual distraction. A cohesive solution incorporating SLIM C linear profiles alongside a refined downlighting approach using architectural fixtures from supply partner NEKO provides consistent visual comfort across varied program areas. The result is a disciplined lighting environment that enhances architectural form while remaining quietly supportive of the building’s cultural and spiritual function.
The project reflects DARKON’s ability to translate sensitive architectural environments into precise, integrated lighting outcomes through collaborative design and considered execution. Polycon’s leadership as head contractor supported seamless collaboration throughout, with installation expertly delivered by EWIRE through clear coordination and communication across all stages.
