Darkon Architectural Lighting

DARKON Fabrication Division

Advanced Manufacturing Services - Beyond Lighting

Purpose-Built Fabrication.

Now Available as a Standalone Service.

DARKON is widely recognised as a leading Australian manufacturer of architectural lighting. Less visible – but equally critical to our success – is the advanced engineering and fabrication capability that underpins everything we produce.

The DARKON Fabrication Division opens this capability to industry.

Builders, electrical contractors, designers, and manufacturers can now engage DARKON directly for custom fabrication services, either as discrete manufacturing support or as a complete end-to-end design and delivery solution.

What We Offer

Our fabrication services are delivered from DARKON’s 4,665 m² purpose-built manufacturing facility in Melbourne, supported by a skilled in-house engineering, production, and quality team.

Clients can engage DARKON Fabrication for:

  • One-off or repeat custom components
  • Short-run or production fabrication
  • Value-engineered alternatives
  • Precision manufacturing support during construction

Fully engineered, design-to-manufacture solutions

  • Haas Supermini Mill 2 – CNC drill/mill centre for intricate machining.
  • Haas DM-2 – Versatile CNC drill/mill centre for high-speed operations.
  • Haas ST30SSY – Lathe with live tooling for advanced turning operations.
  • Emmegi Precision RS – Twin head CNC up-cut saw for precise cutting.
  • Emmegi Phantomatic M3 – Profile machining centre for accurate profile processing.
  • Elumatec SBZ122 – Advanced profile machining centre for detailed profile work.
  • Haco EuroMaster-S30150 – 150-tonne CNC press brake for shaping and bending.

CNC Press Brake Forming

CNC press braking for accurate bending and forming of metal components, enabling consistent results across short-run or repeat production.

High-Precision Laser Cutting

High-precision fibre laser cutting for aluminium, steel, and selected plastics. Ideal for complex profiles, brackets, plates, and custom components requiring accuracy and repeatability.

Laser Welding

Precision laser welding delivers clean joins with minimal heat distortion — ideal for architectural components, fine assemblies, and high-finish requirements.

Our laser welding process is not only faster and more efficient but also consumes less power compared to traditional techniques. Whether we’re crafting suspended luminaires or surface-mounted external downlights, our commitment to quality makes us a trusted name among architectural lighting manufacturers in Australia.

Powder Coating & Finishing

In-house batch powder coating with environmentally responsible pretreatment and closed-loop water systems, ensuring consistent finishes and fast turnaround.

Fabrication Services FAQ

Lead times vary by scope, material, and finish. As a local manufacturer, DARKON typically offers significantly shorter and more reliable lead times than offshore fabrication. Indicative timeframes are confirmed at enquiry stage.

Tolerances depend on process and material. CNC-machined components can typically achieve tight, repeatable tolerances suitable for architectural and engineered applications. Requirements should be specified at enquiry.

We accept common industry formats including DWG, DXF, STEP, IGES, and PDF drawings. Our team can also assist with design development if drawings are not finalised.

Yes. Clients may engage DARKON for fabrication only, collaborative engineering input, or full end-to-end design, prototyping, and production.

Minimums vary by process and setup requirements. We regularly support one-off components, short-run fabrication, and repeat production.
