DARKON is proud to have supplied the prestigious 555 Collins Street ‘Fitted Spaces’ project – a visionary development redefining workplace amenity and experience within Melbourne’s CBD. Delivered by SHAPE for Charter Hall, this Premium Grade commercial offering spans six levels and includes a state-of-the-art Business Hub, Wellness Centre, Co-Working Flex Suites, and Speculative Office Suites. Each space was conceived by leading Australian design firms – Cox Architecture, Hassell, Studio 103, and Hot Black – ensuring a rich architectural dialogue throughout the building.
Designed by Studio 103, the Speculative Suites on Levels 6 and 20 are a pair of uniquely styled commercial floors totalling 2,900m² – each responding to Melbourne’s eclectic urban personality. Drawing inspiration from the city’s laneways, boutique hotels and wellness culture, the fitout delivers four distinct tenancies – Elba, Hazel, Savoy, and Como – each with its own material palette and spatial identity:
Hazel: Muted glamour with curved forms and sandy finishes. Lighting plays a key role in this language, enhancing both materiality and movement. Rather than concealing the building’s monolithic concrete columns, the design team chose to celebrate them – allowing their structural presence to define the rhythm and flow of the space. This raw honesty is balanced by softer architectural gestures – textured surfaces, timber accents, and sinuous curves. Integrated LED lighting shapes form and softens transitions, while smart lighting control systems further reinforce the project’s commitment to sustainability and occupant wellbeing – both key pillars in Charter Hall’s vision for this significant asset.
As a project that seamlessly blends architectural expression, user comfort and environmental performance, these Spec Suites exemplify the future of workplace design,
